What kind of computer is this? The models I'm aware of that have an integrated camera-microphone device are new Dell laptops. These need an option passed to the sound device's kernel module. My Latitude E6410 needs /etc/modprobe.d/snd_hda_intel.conf containing options snd_hda_intel model=dell-s14 Other models need other model= values.
