Yeah, that would have cleaned this up more nicely.

Now you can do:
package-cleanup --cleandupes
and it should remove the older, duplicate packages for you.
then your glibc install should work hopefully.

package-cleanup did not help either. I reinstalled and works fine now. Nonetheless thanks a lot for helping me troubleshoot this. It must have been the crash in the first big yum update that messed things up for me.
