may also be worth trying
$ yum update yum PackageKit

first to make sure the tools used for the update are current.

yum update yum worked fine
yum update PackageKit had the following errors (log attached):

... but when I ran yum -y upgrade again it complained about gnuplot so I did yum -y upgrade --skip-broken and that worked.


I've noticed though that my machine has been locking up periodically throughout the day making me do a hard boot. Is there a good way to try and debug that?
