I selected a saved "3g2" file from the XFCE file manager and it, unlike Thunderbird, allowed me to choose the method and make that method the default. After doing that Thunderbird also uses VLC as default! Hopefully that selection will survive rebooting? My daughter sent some video clips while kayaking yesterday and I wanted to view them quickly and comment. I saved the first one out of desperation but then she sent several more and the process got to be a bother ... I had other problems and my three year old great grand daughter wanting me to play ball with her! Should have turned off the computer I suppose. Thanks.
