I tried Centos and SL-5.3 and decided to use the later after
reading the mailing lists for a bit.

It has worked faultlessly for me so far, a used HP I bought
on-line for about $100. I rarely mess with it except to reboot
in the event of an extended power outage. It has always come
        back up working.
