obviously, for now, if you want to use enigmail, it means installing
32 bit thunderbird. :(

ok. how about running wireshark or similar to see what/who is happening with
your internet connection during freeze.

primary of safe-mode is to not load extensions and themes for session.

this is true. a way to see if imap/gmail is problem, disable auto check for
mail. or, remove gmail from accounts and reinstall if does not cure.

even tho gmail does have imap, i question if they have it set up correctly.
i say this from my own experience with imap and gmail. i changed it to pop.


i am still using 2.0.0.24 and i see occasionally 2 and 3 typed character
delays/freezes, but nothing much longer. i just keep typing and let it
catch up.

also, most times, i go offline when i am composing long emails.
