No answer, but I have been noticing after upgrading to F12 that a lot of stuff in my panels (Gnome) keep disappearing. I've been half-assuming that it's my children either trying to get back at me for being busy on the computer when they want to play games or just not realizing they're hitting the right mouse button and accidentally selecting delete in the context menu. But the same happened on my iBook after I upgraded it to F12, and I don't think my son had his hands on it between the install and the reboot yesterday. But I don't find them in lost+found, either. Anyway, my memory is that KDE also lets you put things (back) in the menus, etc. by dragging and dropping and/or right-clicking.
