For some reason, abrtd is not running on my system. system-config-services shows it as "dead". /var/log/messages includes these bits that appear to come from abrtd startup: May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: Registered Reporter plugin 'Bugzilla' May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: Registered Action plugin 'KerneloopsScanner' May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: Registered Reporter plugin 'KerneloopsReporter' May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: Registered Analyzer plugin 'Python' May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: Registered Analyzer plugin 'Kerneloops' May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: Registered Analyzer plugin 'CCpp' May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: Registered Reporter plugin 'Logger' May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: Checking for unsaved crashes (dirs to check:10) May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: Registered Database plugin 'SQLite3' May 26 20:00:42 bolt abrtd: invalid number '' The last part looks a bit suspicious. There's also bits like this: May 25 20:45:30 bolt abrt[9286]: abrt daemon is not running. If it crashed, /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern contains a stale value, consider resetting it to 'core' /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern just contains: |/usr/libexec/abrt-hook-ccpp /var/cache/abrt %p %s %u %c As I'm not able to edit this file, I'm not entirely clear on what "resetting it to 'core'" means.
