[...snip...] I noticed in your original log that you have an existing /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. You might want to try renaming that file to something else, like /etc/X11/xorg.conf.orig, and then try startx again. Could be your existing hacked configuration file is no longer necessary and interfering with Xorg's newer functions for autoconfiguration. -- Paul W.
