Just a note to you Fedora folks out there. I have managed to set up a local LAN with NFS working without disabling the Firewall, (SELinux is set as permissive), and only requiring the changing of 2 files as all the other changes can be made using GUI configuration tools. My experience of setting this up found that the information available on the web was incomplete or patchy at best, and involved more manual editing of system files, (need to be careful here). Rest assured folks it really is not as hard as it may appear, (ok, I've been maintaining my Linux PC for ~6 years), so let me know if you want more details.
