You probably want automount - it lets ou set up mount points that will mount a file system when you go to access them. For example, if you have a bunch of CD/DVD images that you want to be able to access, but you do not want to tie up that many loopback mounts all the time, you can set up automount to loop mount the image when you go to access it.
