I > like clean process tables. I'm not running fvwm, so this may not be relevant, but it sounds like you mike be running nautulus (sp?). If that's the case then removing it (rpm -e) will solve your problems with the icons. FWIW, its supprising that upgrade rather than install from RH7.3 left you with a running system.
