Do you have updates-testing enabled? F11 doesn't include 2.6.30
kernels, but there is one in updates-testing.
Now that kernel-PAE-2.6.30.5-43.fc11.i686 is available from updates,
I can reproduce the same behaviour w/ "the latest kernel available
from updates repos", hah :-\.
Hmm. If you didn't file a bug before, now would be a good time.

Some similar like this happen when I used Preupgrade to update a i386 box from fc10 to fc11, After the upgrade finished I had all FC11 packages installed and a FC10 kernel, and the box did crash after reboot.
