That didn't work. With "nomodeset", the screen saver didn't even pop in.
 I then tried using Xorg from udpates-testing, but the monitor still
doesn't go to sleep.

Just for the record, it used to do so under F10.  I did a clean install
to get to F11 and it did it for a while under F11. Then, Something
Changed(TM).
