It looks like the recent update of Thunderbird to 3.0b3 is using tabsfor viewing emails much the same way Firefox uses tabbed browsing. Thetabs seem sticky, so that when I open Firefox, I will see the lastcouple of emails I read. I'm not complaining, but I can say this willtake some getting used to. I keep closing Thunderbird accidentally, whenI think I'm closing a tabbed email.
