Aaron's suggestion only removes alsa-plugins-pulseaudio. It removes no
other packages. Pulseaudio and other installed pulseaudio packages
such as pulseaudio-utils will still remain.

If you do a " yum remove pulseaudio\*" yum will show you a list of
packages to be removed. If you do not like what is being removed press
"n" to cancel.

Just so you know, removing pulseaudio also removes the master volume
control for Gnome. [It shouldn't matter much to you since pulseaudio
is not working.]
