Remember that Fedora is restricted in that non-GPL items and those with

That doesn't prevent you from _using_ the excluded stuff, but Fedora
can't distribute any of it. "Don't ask, don't tell."

do you mean compiling it or looking for third party repos?
I'm used to be a debian user for a long time so I know issues licences-
related ;-)

If you can get the source, compile/build it and it works, then I don't see why you can't use it...but you may be running afoul of the "powers
that be".

As someone once said, "It's only illegal if you get caught." Followed
closely by, "It's a great life...once you've weakened!"

but I was asking if maybe there is a community repo with more stuff... I was also interested in learning to build my onw packages for the few bits I need...
I'll see.

There are some other repos (I think Kam replied to this thread as well
with a URL to one). One risk you have is that since these other repos
aren't under Fedora control or don't work closely with the Fedora
troops, you may end up with some conflicts between libraries and such
provided by the third-party repos and the "official" repos.

Witness the conflicts between Dag, atrpms and Fedora not too long ago
which lead to the creation of rpmfusion. I don't blame them...Fedora
is a very fast moving target to try to keep synced up with if you're
on the outside looking in. Sorta like herding cats.

Thank you for your answer, d.

No problem. Just sticking my oar in.
