IIRC, there are a couple of patches that are necessary for a fully functional Fedora kernel. You may not have encountered those issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. The kernel source RPM can be rebuilt as a nearly vanilla kernel without too much trouble. Then one can install that kernel using RPM and get the benefits of packaging without most of the patches, if one wants. I did that a while ago for some testing, and it worked just fine. Grab the kernel SRPM, unpack it, and read the SPEC file to see what options are needed on the rpmbuild command. My experience is documented someplace in the archives, but I don't have time to hunt it down now, and I'm happy with the distro kernels at the moment. > > Regards, > > John > > -- Matthew Saltzman Clemson University Math Sciences mjs AT clemson DOT edu http://www.math.clemson.edu/~mjs -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines
