Try:
su -c "yum clean metadata"
and if that doesn't help:
su -c "yum clean all"

Hi Kevin, thanks for the reply. I have ended up downloading the DVD ISO and upgrading from the DVD. Looks successful so far. I posted a reply to this thread, but it seems to have gone astray.
