But still they are not the same or close to the Windows speeds.... Here's the output from iwconfig and ifconfig before changing the MTU.: [phil@hekate ~]$ ifconfig wlan0 wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:19:D2:3C:A0:43 inet addr:192.168.0.49 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::219:d2ff:fe3c:a043/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:15 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:23 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:2193 (2.1 KiB) TX bytes:5445 (5.3 KiB) [phil@hekate ~]$ iwconfig wlan0 wlan0 IEEE 802.11abg ESSID:"bieberdamm_og" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:0F:B5:0F:3B:33 Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B Power Management:off Link Quality=81/100 Signal level:-53 dBm Noise level=-127 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 <-- snip > Watch out for network zeroconfig configuration setting up unexpected links too. snip--> How can I check this? I haven't seen a service of that name or any process ... I do know its the protocol for setting up router / server less networks, but I have to admit that I have yet to use it. By the way: something caught my eye when I looked at that output: Whenever I have the bad performance, my connection strentrgh (according to NM-applet) dropes to ~50%. I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I thought, I'd mention it. Thank you very much for your help! Cheers Phil Bieber -- Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
