I have an nvidia video card built in to my mother board.
I had to use system-config-display to create one.
The system would not detect my Viewsonic 90 monitor, so I only had 800x600 screen resolution. I had to manually select it the monitor.
Its OK now though. I got it working at 1280x1024

Because in theory it doesn't need to.
