After I posted my message I rechecked, found the new main web page,
and the neutered release rpm. Bummer. I'm beginning to think this
merger is a shotgun wedding.

I thought  "Create Account" was the label for the Login dialog box.
Only when you mouse over it does it show up as a link.  You might try
putting "Create Account" next to UserPreferences or in a separate box
beneath Login.
