abstracting the isolinux directory,
and adding an approriate grub stanza to boot from this?

I haven't done this lately, but I did it to install Fedora 7 and it worked fine.

eg

title Fedora 7 install
	root (hd0,0)
	kernel /vmlinuz-f7-install askmethod
	initrd /initrd-f7-install.img
