I would log in as a different user, su - ,  and make a tar of /home/myuser.
Then when you blow things up, log in as the different user, su -, rm
-r /home/myuser and restore your tar file.

It probably won't work right if you try to do this while logged in as myuser so
start as a different user.  You can set up a "junk" user just for that purpose.
