Power management problems

I have to shut down my fedora computer when I'm not using it, as I have power
management problems. Logwatch tells me

 WARNING: Kernel Errors Present
    powernow-k8: BIOS error - no PSB or ACPI ...: 3 Time(s)

and drives never spin down, or any other kind of management cuts in. The full
report in messages is

Jul 22 10:08:57 david kernel: powernow-k8: Found 1 AMD Hammer Family
processor - Model Unknown processors (1 cpu cores) (version 2.20.00)
Jul 22 10:08:57 david kernel: powernow-k8: BIOS error - no PSB or ACPI _PSS
objects

I have no limiter in grub:

title Fedora (2.6.25.10-86.fc9.i686)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.25.10-86.fc9.i686 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
rhgb quiet
        initrd /initrd-2.6.25.10-86.fc9.i686.img

Is there anything I can do to improve the situation?

Anne
