gkrellkam plugin for gkrellm stopped working with remote urls after one
of the updates about a month ago. I'm using it to display weather maps
and webcam images as well as cycle through local pictures from hdd.
Local resources work as always, the remote ones suddenly stopped
working. Googling for the symptoms reveals that this is relatively
widespread problem, which touched the users of ubuntu and slakware as
well. Most of the posts on the forums and bugtrackers are dated within
last 4 months. Does anyone here encounter something like this / has a cure?

I'm running FC7 x86_64 and FC8 i386 on x86_64 hardware, should this matter.
