Did you try setting MODE=Managed?
Do you see your router's ssid broadcast with the following command?
# iwlist wlan0 scan
Yes, I tried 'managed' mode too. Ok, I will try once again and send
you the output.
And this is the output of my 'iwlist wlan0 scan':

[root@dia ~]# iwlist wlan0 scan

In another message, you showed your ifcfg-wlan0 as using CHANNEL=3,
when your access point is using channel 11. Some drivers do not
like the "MODE=" bit (which is probably where the message is coming
from) and always use managed mode. Try commenting out the "MODE="
line by putting a "#" in it, and change the "CHANNEL=" to "CHANNEL=11".
Give that a try.
