Just to put in my 2 cents.

I was at the WorldComp'06 where the OLPC was the keynote address.
The presentation was excellent, and they had 6 of the OLPCs there, but they
were just the raw boards connected to regular keyboards and screens sitting
on tables. But the machines were working individualy, and even
demonstrated the networking and ability of the systems to work together in a
music demonstarations. I was impressed. It was using a version of Fedora
as the main OS.

If I recall correctly, one of the issues brought up was they were not trying to
create a machine to run Office, but to be more of a system that woud
provide for learning and growth.

Actually, had a student that bought one under the program to buy one and
give one program, and showed it to a number of my classes.

Will have to see if they stick to the original ideals, or just move to it being a
cheap computer to do Word Processing and Internet.
