To avoid that, switching to permissive (rather than disabled), *should* take SELinux out of your way (enough to stop it blocking things) but leave it running enough that files are still being labelled correctly. -- (This computer runs FC7, my others run FC4, FC5 & FC6, all using Gnome in case that's important to the thread.)
