I found out what went wrong with my system.  From F7 all drives are called sdx.  So Grub got confused and was installed at the wrong drive.  I had to manually reinstall it onto the correct partition.

No, I don't have other OS on it.  Fedora only.

Hi,

I can't help you with a solution but I had the same problem. GRUB hangs completely at start in text mode. Do you have installs of Windows Vista or Windows XP present next to Fedora?

Regards,

Wim

Subject: Weird Grub problem on F9

Hi,

I upgraded one of my boxes from FC6 to F9 x86_64.  The upgrade itself went smoothly.  But when I tried to reboot, the computer just keeps splitting out the word "GRUB" and hangs there.

I tried using the DVD to get into the Rescue mode and looked at the grub.conf.  It seems normal.  Only thing I'm not very familiar with (I guess it's new in F9) is this UUID thing.

I also tried upgrading again using the DVD with "Update Bootloader" checked.  The same thing.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks,

DS
