left clicking on NetworkManager applet there will be an interface and right bellow it a "Auto GSM Dialup connection" option, select that. i have a gsm modem if yours is cdma switch GSM with CDMA. it makes no difference if you have gnome or kde there is only the gnome network manager applet in F-9 knetworkmanager is not in a useable shape right now.

because pcmcia card isnt detected.
