Hi, list NetworkManager drives me crazy! Has anyone experienced similar ? - If so, has anyone a fix ? I have a Fedora8-ws on LAN. On the LAN there are two gateways, GW1 and GW2. GW1 is also DHCP server, setting GW1 as default gateway. Now, what i want is pretty simple: I want a static IP address on the Fedora8-ws I want GW2 as default gateway. This should be pretty easy, so i start system-config-network, and uncheck the DHCP-part, and specifies the IP, mask and gateway I leave the checkmark, letting NM handle the connection. But somehow it still get that ip from DHCP. Ant worse: i get GW1 as gateway. Then, as root i execute service network restart and - voilà there is my address and gateway as specified in "system-config-network". Very annoying !! Now i uncheck, the box letting NM _not_ handle the connection. When i reboot i have the wanted IP/mask/GW. - Success - or so i thought. NM shows that there is NO network connection. Well i don't mind that as it shouldn't (mis)manage the networkconnection. BUT, surprise ! Evolution now starts offline, and pidgin won't connect but is left in a state of "waiting for network connection". And i'm notified that my system isn't receiving any updates due to lack of network connectivity. I'm just dying to see what's next - not.. I've run RedHat 5,6,9,FC2,FC6, and now F8 and i kinda like the SElinux idea. But networking worked fine in my previous installations... arrgh.. sorry for the rant. regards Kenn
