Because I do have the Quickcam working under linux (e.g. I can grab images with xawtv), and lsmod shows quickcam_messenger 14917 0 usbvideo 25925 1 quickcam_messenger so these are the drivers it's using. Skype does see the camera, but when I click on "TEST" in the little test window under options/video, the window remains black, no image. And also I don't have any start/stop video buttons in the chat window, or in any menu in skype.
