Apps you see right away (like the system updater) look prettier and function better than the corresponding "first impression" kind of apps in redhat/fedora. But ubuntu is too easy! I'm currently working on installing gentoo, and expect to have a kernel that actually boots sometime this week so I can finish the install :-).
