You can certainly upgrade from F7 to F8 using the DVD (I've done it). However it's a toss-up whether going F6->F7->F8 is going to be troublefree. See the warnings and implicit "we don't guarantee this will work" parts of the Fedora Release Notes. You're probably safer backing up your config data and reinstalling. poc
