links in konqueror's edit window don't work

today the "open in konqueror" function in 
konqueror's "edit bookmarks" window got borked.
it produces a bunch of kfmclients but does not open the link.

i had this problem befor, and fixed it by creating a new
user ( and moving all my files over ). 

any suggestions on how to narrow this down?
