Even if you don't "need" one, there's plenty of simple hosts that'll
give you a site so cheaply that you can do it just for the fun of it.

Another really big advantage is if you register a real domain name, you
own it.  Your website is yours, and you'll be able to have a permanent
email address of your own choosing.  None of which changes if you do
change ISPs.
