Dear Paul,
I understood the thing, I have installed mplayer also but whenever I put the string in the url to play found the error "no stream found to handle"

Download the asx file and open it with a text editor. Then, you can
see the mms address, which you can open with mplayer (with all codecs
previously installed). For instance,

mplayer "mms://ac1.streaming.net.nz/tarana1"

Regarding pls files, proceed similarly:

mplayer "http://ct5.fast-serv.com:9620"

With m3u files:

mplayer -playlist http://www.radioparadise.com/musiclinks/rp_128.m3u
