Sounds good regardless of my computer situation.

No.

I neglected to read

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/YumUpgradeFaq

when upgrading from 7 -> 8. Someone on this list pointed this web page out to me so I gave it a look. I have been having problems with X freezing and saw that, during the upgrade process, I should use

yum groupinstall sound-and-video gnome-desktop

because I use Gnome. When I try it I get...

Transaction Check Error:
package readline-5.2-9.fc8.x86_64 (which is newer than readline-5.2-7.fc8.i386) is already installed file /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/invest/__init__.pyc from install of gnome-applets-2.20.0-8.fc8.i386 conflicts with file from package gnome-applets-2.20.0-8.fc8.x86_64
.
.
.

So that's why I started asking about a readline that is newer that what is in the current F8 mirrors.

In /etc/yum.repos.d all of the testing and development repos have "enable=0".

Any advice?

Thanks for the help Todd,
Pete
