Sorry to hear this. I am using the skype v2 beta on my F8 system which
has onboard Intel ICH7 audio and it works fine -- no fiddling
required. The sound quality is excellent.

$ rpm -q skype
skype-2.0.0.27-fc5

$ rpm -q pulseaudio
pulseaudio-0.9.7-0.17.svn20071017.fc8
