I just replaced my broken IDE dvdrw drive with a new sata dvdrw drive, and the system seems to see it OK, but for some reason instead of having /dev/dvd I now have /dev/dvd1 (which is a symlink to /dev/sr0 and the old /dev/dvd used to be a symlink to /dev/sr0 as well). Anyone know why The primary device is still /dev/sr0 but the symlinks all have names like /dev/dvd1 now (I also have /dev/cdrw1, etc). Kind of irritating since various defaults are stored by various programs pointing to places like /dev/dvd...
