Just for report, I've installed Ubuntu 7.10 Amd64 and it doesn't show the "problem". So it seems an "unluckly" mix between xorg server and xorg ati driver since they both report "X Window System Version 1.3.0 ..." but xorg.conf are very diffrent and I had to disable DRI for Ubuntu while F8 worked without any change. best regards, LF
