$ lspci -vvv |grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)

I have lost sound on my laptop on the 2 latest kernel updates.

Sound still works on.

Hi Rick,

The laptop model is actually a P105-S6147, not a P107-S6147 as my
subject line is erroneously stating. I had recently done a BIOS update
to BIOS version 4.00 for this machine. When I looked in the BIOS
options, I couldn't find one for enabling on-board sound. And I can't
remember whether I tested the audio under Windows Vista before, or
after, I did the BIOS update. I think it was before.

Also, I'm fairly certain there is only one keyboard shortcut for the
audio, Fn-and a little graphic for speakers, which seems to mute the
"Master" control or turn it back on. I'll double-check the
documentation. Pulseaudio is still complaining that it can't find the
"Capture" control.

Could I have made a mess of the audio with the BIOS update? Perhaps I
should backgrade the BIOS.

Bob
