obscure xorg.conf question

So, the display flickering and failing problem I described
in http://home.att.net/~Tom.Horsley/easy-linux.html is back
in Fedora 8, and my ModeLine that solves the problem doesn't
work anymore (sigh...).

The new X in Fedora 8 treats my ModeLine with such utter
contempt it doesn't even give a reason in the log for
ignoring it - it might as well not be there.

I think the reason is that the "ddc" module is now built
in rather than being dynamically loaded. That means the
"NoDDC" options I used to give as module options need to
go somewhere else.

Here's the obscure question:

Anyone know how the devil to specify module options in
xorg.conf for a built-in module?

I've got the X server source code extracted and will soon
go on another quest for answers, but I thought there might
be a slim chance someone could spare me the trouble :-).
