You should change your display manager to kdm instead of gdm which is the default display manager whether you are using gnome or kde.

Note that this is true only for the Fedora DVD image. The KDE spin uses KDM by default. If you a KDE desktop user, that is probably what you should be using since the package selection and configuration is more customized for desktop users there.
