Dumb question - did you run the k3b configuration option? You may
have to add the device to k3b's list. It will display the list of
devices k3b knows about.

You may also want to try plugging in the drive directly. Every once
in a while, I run into a device/hub combination that does not work
right. I am more used to running into it with cameras, but it is
worth a shot.
