I've been reading through these posts and I can't tell if there is
something I should fix. I understand the kernel is taking the
setting from the bios, but I can't understand if there's something I
should fix beyond that.

My Dell Latitude laptop has a Hitachi HTS54161 hard drive. It says this:

# /sbin/hdparm -I /dev/sda | grep "Advanced power management"
Advanced power management level: 128 (0x80)

Is there something I'm supposed to fix or not?
