    I was playing around with samba and network settings and
        firewall/SELinux settings. I removed samba, then desktop icons
        disappeared and right click desktop quit. So I reinstalled samba
        and
        nautilus with all the gravy but nothing. Login as root still has
        desktop icons and right click function.
