There is definitely something funky regarding packages with deps on
/boot/vmlinuz-$kernelver. I've run into this a few times now with
some other kmdl packages from ATrpms. I have noticed that yum often
wants to install a .i586 kernel to satisfy the dep, even though I have
a .i686 kernel already installed which should satisfy the requirement
(and that kernel is not slated for removal in the transaction).

Axel has said it has something to do with yum looking to the repos for
the requirements and that since those kernel's no longer are available
in the repos, yum thinks the requirements can't be satisfied. I don't
know enough about it to verify that. If that's true, it seems to be a
yum bug (well, it seems to be a yum bug in any case).
