What does it do, precisely?

I've seen some things like mplayer take a bit longer to read something
over the net, as it first tries to do an IPv6 lookup, then the IPv4 when
the prior fails.

At *some* stage this has to work neatly, there will be IPv6 instead of
IPv4.

Using FC 4, 5, 6 & 7, plus CentOS 5.  Today, it's FC7.
